Beyond Darklands 2027 gathers the fetish community in Antwerp from 16 to 22 February for what is billed as the largest indoor gay fetish festival in Europe. Themed The Ember Dunes and marking the sixteenth edition, it runs for the better part of a week under a single roof at the Waagnatie on the Antwerp waterfront, combining a daytime festival, a gear market, masterclasses, the international Mister Fetish World contest and a chain of large themed club nights.
Since the redevelopment of Antwerp’s docks pushed the event indoors, everything happens on one multi-level site at the Waagnatie, mixing education, shopping, community and clubbing. The organisation started around 2009 as LeatherPride Belgium, became Leather and Fetish Pride Belgium and then Darklands, and rebranded as Beyond Darklands in 2026. The 2027 theme, The Ember Dunes, sets the tone for the whole production.
The week is structured as an opening followed by a run of headline nights, with a full festival programme running in daylight alongside them.
The official opening party, Homecoming, is on Wednesday 17 February at 9pm. The big nights follow in sequence: Storm on the Thursday, Fusion on the Friday, Rage as the Saturday climax with three stages, and Fury closing things from Sunday into Monday. Rage runs tech and club music on two stages and pop anthems on the House of Riegillio stage, and the site includes purpose-built darkrooms constructed by European fetish makers.
The Daytime Festival is the daylight centrepiece, with multiple stages, shows and the largest set of masterclasses the event has run, plus a gear market and expo covering leather, rubber, military, skinhead, puppy play, sportswear and uniforms. The Mister Fetish World 2027 contest is decided live in front of the crowd across the festival, with candidates from around the world competing to succeed the reigning titleholder as international ambassador. The market draws specialist makers from across Europe, and the masterclasses cover everything from rope to puppy play, which is part of what sets the daytime programme apart from a simple club weekend.
The festival week runs 16 to 22 February 2027 at the Waagnatie, Rijnkaai 150, a short distance from the historic centre of Antwerp. A fetish dress code applies, with a minimum of jeans and a dark t-shirt and leather, rubber, sportswear, uniform or pup gear encouraged; the nights are for men and trans men. Tickets are sold through the official platform, from a Daytime Festival pass to full-week passes, and the top passes sell out early, so book ahead and expect higher prices at the door. The 2027 edition runs a little earlier in the year than usual, a shift from the March dates of recent years, so returning visitors should double-check the week.
Antwerp is easy to reach by high-speed rail from Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris and Cologne, and the festival works with signature partner hotels near the site. Because everything is under one roof, you do not need to plan transfers between venues once you are there. Ticket resale closes in the week before the festival, and lockers and the top passes sell out even sooner, so anyone relying on them should buy in good time.
There is nothing else quite like it in Europe: a week-long indoor fetish festival that puts a gear market, masterclasses, a world title contest and some of the biggest fetish club nights on the continent in one building. Beyond Darklands 2027 is the reference winter gathering for the scene, and The Ember Dunes edition is set to be one of its biggest yet.
