Mann-O-Meter is a community centre for gay and bisexual men on Bülowstraße, just around the corner from Nollendorfplatz station. Run as a non-profit association, it is a key gay health centre in Berlin for locals and visitors alike, whether they need a test, advice or simply someone to talk to. Trans men who have sex with men are welcome too.
Testing is the best-known service. Five evenings a week, without an appointment, you can get tested for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis C, chlamydia and gonorrhoea, check your hepatitis vaccination status or do a PrEP check-up. Tests are not free but are kept affordable: a rapid or lab HIV test costs €10 and a chlamydia and gonorrhoea swab €15. Counsellors speak English, and a short anonymous questionnaire precedes each test.
Beyond testing, the centre offers psychological counselling, groups for men over 50, a youth section, social and self-help groups, and is home to MANEO, the anti-violence project. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 5 pm to 10 pm, with testing from 6 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and from 5 pm on other weekdays.
