Prik has been pouring drinks on Spuistraat since July 2006, in the old centre just behind Dam Square. Its name means bubbles in Dutch, a nod to the prosecco served on tap in white or pink. With its bright pink interior and easy-going crowd of locals, expats and visitors of all ages, it is one of the friendliest choices for a gay bar in Amsterdam, and it has collected several awards over the years, including a Rainbow Award.
The drinks list leans on cocktails and fizz, and there are small bites to eat too. In good weather the terrace on Spuistraat fills up from late afternoon. The week has a few fixed rendezvous: karaoke on Sundays, a queer gaming night on Tuesdays, and Trashy Thursday, dedicated to nostalgic camp hits.
Prik opens daily in the afternoon, from 4 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. It closes at 1 am from Sunday to Thursday and at 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights.
