Amistad Hotel is a small canal-house hotel on Kerkstraat, in Amsterdam’s central canal belt, within walking distance of the shops, clubs and museums. Formerly known as the Gay Friendly Hotel, it remains a natural choice for travellers looking for a gay hotel in Amsterdam: everyone is welcome, and Club Church is just a few doors along the same street.
The hotel has nine rooms, single or double, some of which can be set up with twin beds on request. Each one has its own shower, sink and toilet, and free wifi. Breakfast is included and served every morning from 8 am until noon around one big shared table, with freshly cooked egg dishes and pancakes, a moment many guests remember. Rates include the tourist tax.
The reception is staffed from 8 am to 4 pm, and a key pick-up service handles later arrivals, so it is worth sharing your arrival time when you book. Note that the rooms are reached only by stairs and there is no lift, which can matter for travellers with reduced mobility or heavy luggage.
