Winter Pride Solden 2027 is the gay ski week that bills itself as the highest Pride in Europe, taking over the Austrian resort of Solden in the Otztal Alps from 13 to 20 March 2027. Formerly the Gay Snow Happening, it pairs a full week of skiing and snowboarding on a glacier-topped domain with a packed programme of apres-ski, pool parties and club nights. Winter Pride Solden 2027 is where the LGBTQ+ crowd swaps the beach for the slopes without giving up any of the party.
The formula is simple and irresistible: guided skiing and snowboarding across the Solden domain during the day, then apres-ski, dinners and DJ nights once the lifts close. The week runs group ski-guiding on the Giggijoch and Hochgurgl sectors, a fun race, a pool party at the Freizeit Arena and opening and closing parties, so there is as much for confident skiers as for those mainly there for the scene.
The signature moment is the Winter Pride March on skis, a rainbow descent down the mountain on the Friday, followed by the closing party. Held at altitude on one of Austria’s biggest glacier ski areas, it is a genuinely unusual Pride image, hundreds of skiers carving down the piste under the flag.
Solden is serious ski country, with terrain rising above three thousand metres and reliable March snow, which is why the event leans on its “peak of diversity” branding. It has welcomed LGBTQ+ skiers since the late 1990s under its old Gay Snow Happening name, and relaunched as Winter Pride Solden in 2023 with a broader, community-wide feel.
During the week the event spreads across the resort’s venues, from the Freizeit Arena and mountain huts to the famous Ice Q restaurant on the Gaislachkogl, so the whole village takes on the festival’s colours. Passes come in three, four and seven-day options, with VIP tiers for those who want the full programme.
You do not need to be an expert to enjoy the week. The daily ski-guiding is grouped by ability, the Solden domain has plenty of gentle, well-groomed runs alongside its steeper terrain, and a good share of the crowd comes as much for the apres-ski and the parties as for the pistes. Ski and boot hire is easy to arrange in the village, lessons can be booked for beginners, and the non-skiing programme, from pool parties to mountain lunches, means nobody is left out. That mix of real Alpine skiing and an easygoing, welcoming scene is exactly what has kept the event growing since its relaunch.
Winter Pride Solden 2027 runs from Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 March 2027 in Solden, in the Otztal valley of Tyrol, Austria. Ski passes and event passes are sold separately through the official site, which also lists the venues and the week’s programme. Solden is reachable via Innsbruck, with transfers up the Otztal, and accommodation should be booked early, as the resort is popular in March. The event is run by the Winter Pride Solden team.
It is one of the few Prides built around the mountains rather than a city centre, a reminder that the LGBTQ+ calendar reaches well beyond the summer season and the beach.
High-altitude skiing, a rainbow descent on skis and a week of Alpine parties make Winter Pride Solden 2027 a standout on the winter calendar. It offers something most Prides cannot, real mountains and real snow alongside the celebration, in one of Austria’s top ski resorts. For gay skiers and snow-lovers, mid-March in Solden is the date to circle.
