Axel Hotel Barcelona is the flagship of the Axel chain, a hotel group created for the gay community and open to all guests. It stands on Carrer d’Aribau, on the corner of the Eixample blocks known as the Gaixample, which makes it one of the most convenient gay hotels in Barcelona: the bars of Consell de Cent and the saunas of the area are a short walk away.
The rooftop is the social heart of the hotel, with a pool open during the day and bar service in the afternoon. Guests also have a gym and a spa, with one hour of complimentary spa access, and massage treatments can be booked. On the ground floor, the Groundbar hosts DJs and drag shows every evening until late, while Nikkei 103 serves Japanese and Peruvian fusion cuisine. Breakfast is available for hotel guests.
Bookings are made directly on the Axel website, and the hotel is especially sought after during Pride Barcelona and the big summer events, so plan ahead if your dates fall in June or July.
