COGAM is the LGTBI+ collective of Madrid, a non-profit association that has worked for decades on rights, health and community life. Its centre sits on Calle de la Puebla, on the corner with Calle de la Ballesta, between Gran Vía and Malasaña, and it is a useful address for anyone, resident or visitor, looking for LGBTQ+ health services in Madrid.
On the health side, COGAM offers rapid HIV and hepatitis C tests, along with sexual health information and prevention programmes. Its teams also provide psychological, medical, legal and sexological counselling, guidance for young people and job seekers, and support for people in vulnerable situations. A dedicated service helps victims of LGBTIphobic attacks.
Community life is the other half of the picture. The association runs groups for trans people, young people, seniors, migrants, bisexual and lesbian members, as well as hiking, theatre and cultural activities. It is also a visible voice in the city, with Pride mobilisation and its yearly Pink Brick awards. Call the information line before visiting to check times for testing.
