Bear Carnival Maspalomas 2027 gathers the bear community in Gran Canaria from 8 to 18 April, under the theme Men at Work. Billing itself as Europe’s most social bear week, it runs sixty to seventy events over ten days around the Yumbo Centre, from pool and boat parties to beach afternoons and themed club nights. It drew around three thousand people in 2025, more than half of them travelling solo, which tells you a lot about the friendly, easy tone of the week.
The event has been running for about a decade around the Yumbo Centre, timed with the island’s carnival season, and it leans hard into its social identity: it claims the largest social bear programme in Europe rather than the biggest crowd, and the numbers back the emphasis, with the community itself voting on the dates each year. The 2027 dates, the second week after Easter, were chosen by nearly seventy per cent of voters.
There is no single pass; you buy events individually, from free bar terraces to island excursions, so everyone builds their own week.
The biggest event is the Wet and Hairy pool party, around a thousand strong and pitched as the largest bear pool party in Europe, usually closing the week. Other pool parties run at Basement Studios, Los Almendros and Axel Beach, with a trip to the Aqualand water park, boat parties from Puerto Rico and a sunset cruise, and Bear Olympics on the gay beach at Kiosco 7. Prices run from free to around ninety-five euros for the island excursions.
After dark the week takes over the Yumbo Centre with jockstrap and harness nights, the cruise venues of the centre and a closing Endgame party, and it crowns Mister Bear Gran Canaria in its headline contest. The subtropical April climate, around twenty to twenty-five degrees, keeps the whole thing outdoors and easy. More than half of those who come travel on their own, which the organisers lean into with a programme built around meeting people rather than watching a stage.
The week runs 8 to 18 April 2027 around the Centro Comercial Yumbo at Avenida de Estados Unidos 54, in the municipality of San Bartolome de Tirajana, Playa del Ingles. Events are booked individually through the official site, and the detailed 2027 timetable is published closer to the dates. Gran Canaria airport is about thirty minutes away, and staying in the bungalow complexes near the Yumbo keeps everything walkable.
